Root Canal Treatment in Bromley
What is Root Canal Treatment?
Root Canal Treatment (also known as Endodontics) is the treatment required for a tooth when the nerve or blood supply (pulp) is infected either from injury or decay.
Why is it needed?
If an infected nerve is left for too long, bacteria and infection can travel to the end of the tooth. This could then lead to an abscess which can be very painful and cause swelling. If left for too long, the tooth may need to be taken out.
What does Root Canal Treatment involve?
Treatment involves removing the pulp and nerve, and replacing it modern and reliable filling materials.
Does it hurt?
No, we take a lot of care to ensure the tooth is completely numb using local anaesthetic. It shouln’t feel any different to having a normal filling carried out.
How long will it take?
The time taken to complete root canal treatment varies depending on the tooth and the complexity of treatment. Usually it will require 1 – 2 appointments.
Is the tooth safe after Root Canal Treatment?
In many cases, the tooth will require a crown to restore the tooth fully, providing additional strength and support so that you can eat normally with comfort and confidence.
